In doing so, the hospital becomes the first in the Washington, DC, area to use a facility dog. This property also contains the Murrays Ford Conservation Site, which includes a rare ecological community called a Northern Piedmont Mafic Barren, one of only ten such sites in the world. This is a view of the Mafic Barren, all of these small-patch communities are rare in Virginia and globally. Nix III, the older brother of Morris Nix who was killed in action. First Lt. Robert W. Nix III, from VMI to the U.S Army, died on June 1, 1944, in Italy. Many of the dirt roads in Loudoun are important heritage resources that represent the migration, settlement and travel patterns of the County’s early populations. Chris was asked by firefighters during the fire to keep an eye on his neighbors Tommy and Ruth Peters from reentering the now engulfed structure when Ruth begged him to save the pet pot bellied pig still trapped in the house. Chris, without ever having been inside the Peters home entered and saved Pebbles the pig. This was Pebbles second close call with a fire so she must be like a cat with 9 lives! (Photo by Douglas Graham/Loudoun Now) UNITED STATES – 10-23-2017: Catoctin Creek Bridge was originally located at a crossing of nearby Goose Creek, carrying the Leesburg Turnpike, later Virginia State Route 7, but was relocated in 1932 to its present location at Catoctin Creek.
